The moving story of a woman who must free herself from the clutches of toxic relationships in order to find her true self.
„Men Don’t Let Her Go“ – Lydia flees from her painful past relationship and starts a new job as an entertainer at a club hotel in Lanzarote. She longs for a fresh start, both professionally and in love, hoping to finally find the right partner. But fate seems to have other plans for her: even though men fall in love with her, her own feelings often remain restrained. First, there was Markus, for whom she felt nothing more than friendship, and then Toni and Ludwig – with them, she is unsure whether it’s true love or just a temporary attraction.
Lydia first falls in love with little Ludwig and later with his father, the charismatic Anton. But what begins as a romantic adventure quickly turns into a nightmare filled with constant accusations and manipulative games. Anton’s parents interfere, and Lydia feels increasingly trapped. Is she really to blame for all this drama, or is there something more behind it?

Why this book?
A novel with reference from practice for practice
„Men Don’t Let Her Go“ – A novel about the traps of love and the path to
self-liberation.
In my novel, I tell the story of Lydia, who embarks on a fresh start in Lanzarote after a painful breakup. Like many women who lose themselves in a relationship, Lydia falls into the grasp of a narcissist. What begins as a romantic hope for Mr. Right turns into a toxic relationship filled with manipulation and emotional dependency.
But Lydia is not alone. With the support of her friends Tina and Patricia, she reflects on her choices, recognizes the patterns that hold her captive, and learns how to free herself from such destructive dynamics. This novel sheds light on important questions: How do you recognize a narcissist? How can you free yourself emotionally? And how do you find true love without losing yourself?
„Men Don’t Let Her Go“ is more than just a love story. It offers a look behind the scenes of emotional manipulation – and is a journey toward self-discovery. With this book, I don’t just want to entertain but also inspire courage. Because, in the end, it’s about recognizing your own strength and breaking free from the chains of an unhealthy relationship.
A book for everyone who seeks answers in love and is ready to find the way back to themselves.

Review
Her first novel – „Men don’t let her go“.– is a coaching novel – as a guide to dealing with love, relationships and partnerships. From the perspectives of both sexes, primarily those of the protagonist Thomas and his coach Lydia – yes, that’s where the relationship between the two develops in the course of his stay in Lanzarote. What about the classically widespread differences between men and women in communication and behavior?

Rezension aus Deutschland vom 7. Januar 2025
Vera Wagenvoort is a multi-layered novel that takes readers on an emotional journey. The story centers around Lydia, a woman in her late twenties, who finds herself torn between love, career fulfillment, and the search for her inner balance.
After a passionate yet conflict-ridden relationship with Julius, a charismatic but elusive man, Lydia decides to take a radical step: she accepts a job as an entertainer in Lanzarote. The distance is meant to help her gain clarity about her feelings and reflect on the challenges of a complicated relationship.
Particularly moving is Lydia’s inner monologue, in which she reveals her uncertainties and hopes. She wishes for Julius to fight for her, but reality paints a different picture.
In Lanzarote, Lydia finds not only a new professional challenge but also the opportunity to rediscover herself. The vibrant atmosphere of the resort hotel, new colleagues like the cheerful Tina, and the encounter with Thomas, a deep-thinking solo traveler, open Lydia’s eyes to new perspectives. The symbolic role of the island is especially striking—a place of transition and self-discovery that both challenges and inspires Lydia.
Style and Themes:
Wagenvoort impresses with a vivid writing style that captures both emotional depth and light, humorous moments. The themes of love, farewell, and self-realization are authentically and empathetically explored. The descriptions of Lydia’s inner conflicts are particularly strong, offering a sense of relatability for many readers: When is it time to let go? And how do you find the courage to embark on a new path?
Conclusion: Men don’t let her go. Lydia is looking for love:
is a novel for anyone who loves stories about love and new beginnings. It shows that the end of a relationship doesn’t mean the end of happiness—it often marks the beginning of something far more valuable.
